PRACTICE

Hello 2018 Pinedale Pummelers!

Practice will begin Thursday, 1/4/2018 @ 5:45 p.m. at the Wrangler Gym. We will then split into 2 groups offering a beginner level practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:45 to 6:45 pm. This practice will be geared towards those wrestlers new to the sport as well as kids wanting to work on the basics. This will be a fairly “low key” practice similar to our traditional practices.

We will be providing a more advanced practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45 to 7:15. These practices will be geared to wrestlers with a solid understanding of the basics and will focus on more advanced techniques. These practices will be much more intense both physically and mentally, as well as technically more difficult. Lance Gehlhausen will run these practices.

If after the 1st week you have any questions or concerns about the placement of your child for practices, please discuss your concerns with one of the coaches.

For practice your child will need either a wrestling singlet or shorts and a shirt. Shorts must not have any rivets, zippers, etc. as those items will damage the wrestling mats. Wrestling shoes are not a must, but if you chose to wrestle in tennis shoes they must be clean, free of debris and dedicated to wrestling only. We do have a lending box that you are welcome to look through, or there are many online wrestling stores to purchase gear from. Headgear is encouraged at practice as well, but not mandatory. Headgear and singlets are mandatory at tournaments.

This year we are offering two options for the length of wrestling season your child can participate in.  The first season would be shorter and culminate at our annual Meet Me on the Mat Tournament.  The wrestlers interested in traveling and competing at other tournaments will continue until the Wyoming State competition in Casper, Wyoming.
